'The Mother' Of All Cookie Recipes

'The Mother,' Lily, and her cookies!
Earlier this year, I started watching the show, How I Met Your Mother. Yeah I know, I'm late to the game. But hey, now I watch the reruns all the time, and I feel like I've been watching it forever! I seriously fell in love with the show.

Anyways, Monday was the first episode of the final season. (Cue the awws.) I know. Just when I get into the show, the last season starts. Despite that though, we finally see the 'Mother' play out in the show and interact with all the characters. She first interacts with Lily, and they have a moment where the 'Mother' shares her home made cookies. Those cookies are called "Sumbitches." Literally, that is what they both call them in the show. What an awesome name, right? It's a sweet combination of peanut butter, chocolate, and caramel. I'm going to share the recipe that I found, so you can bake "Sumbitches" at home! Haha.

They are so good!

"Sumbitches" Cookie Recipe

1/2  cup butter, softened
1/2  cup sugar
1/2  cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2  cup creamy peanut butter
1  large egg
1/2  tsp vanilla extract
1  cup all-purpose flour
1/2  tsp baking soda
1/4  tsp salt
18  bite size chocolate-covered caramel candy bars

- BEAT butter, sugar, brown sugar, and peanut butter until blended. Then add egg and vanilla extract. Beat until blended.
- STIR together flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
- ADD to the butter mixture and beat till blended.
- COVER and chill it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- PREHEAT oven at 350 F. Shape a 2 tbsp of dough around each piece of candy bar. Then place on baking pan about 2 inches apart.
- BAKE for 13 to 14 minutes or until lightly brown.

There you go! Now, go and make them! They really are 'The Mother' of cookies.

P.S. We will finally find out how Ted and the 'Mother' meet! Yay!

Just Your Classic Mouthwatering Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Did you know that an average person eats about 35,000 cookies in their lifetime? Thats a lot of cookies. I'm sure most of them are chocolate chip too. I mean who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies? They are the most commonly consumed cookie in America, maybe even the world, and why wouldn't they be? They are so delicious and perfect for anytime, anywhere!

Also, did you know that they were invented by accident? Best accident ever! Without that one accident by baker, Ruth Wakefield, we would have missed out on a chocolate adventure!

There are so many recipes out there, and I found this one recipe online a long time ago. It is the only one I use to make these luscious cookies. I'm going to share the recipe so you can make these amazingly delicious cookies at home!

Here is a picture of my cookies. And yes, they actually do
turn out looking and tasting delicious!

Recipe:

*Makes about 24 cookies (depending on their size)

1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  • Cream together the butter, white and brown sugar until it's smooth. Then beat the eggs one at a time, and stir in the vanilla.
  • Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add to batter along with salt.
  • Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts.
  • Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are nicely browned.

Looks simple, right? It really is! And they turn out great.

If you haven't found that perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe yet, then try this one! You will fall in love with it. Let me know how they turn out!
